Leontine was born in Soest, grew up in Dronten and moved to Lelystad 30 years ago. After several jobs, Leontine joined the Flevo Sailing School, where she was management secretary for three years. At the time, the sailing school was located in the marina, which is how she met the owner at the time, Martijn Dinand.

"He asked me if I wanted to work for the marina, as his mother was about to retire. It was a family business, and Martijn took over the reins. At the time, the harbor master's office was much smaller and looked old-fashioned. I wondered if I really wanted to work here. During our conversation over coffee, Martijn told me about his ambitions, and I was immediately won over."

Leontine has always been the port manager, as everyone is a port manager at Lelystad Haven. Her duties are mainly administrative, and she's often behind the counter. After 15 years, she has become the face of the marina, and most customers know her very well.

"Over the years, I've been able to observe the port's growth up close. Every year brought something new. The floating restaurant was a real innovation, as was the renovation of the sanitary facilities. In my job, I particularly enjoy the variety - no day is the same. In spring, I look forward to conversations with customers returning to port, and in winter, I take advantage of the quiet to concentrate on administration. I like to organize things and encourage my colleagues".

"I've established good relationships with many of the boaters in the harbor, but I keep a strict separation between work and private life. I also maintain good relations with our companies in the port. Take Yachtcharter Mittler, for example, which has been here since 1992! What I really enjoy is following our greatest adventurers, our customers who embark on a round-the-world voyage with their boat. I follow their adventures on social networks or via their blog. It's always a highlight when they return to port."

Leontine has been married for almost 25 years and has two children (aged 20 and 22). In her spare time, she enjoys going on vacation, walking and cycling.

"I love being by the water and have taken sailing lessons. Unfortunately, my family doesn't like sailing, which is why we don't have a boat.

I look back at how far I've come and I still love my job. I also feel welcome within the Port Adhoc group. I have good relations with my colleagues in the other ports, and we like to help each other out. I also celebrated my birthday with my new colleagues, and that was great fun. If my job remains as fun and varied as it is now, I'll still be working here in 15 years' time!"
