Marinas around the Markermeer
The best way to explore the lake is directly from a marina around the Markermeer. This location allows you to enjoy easier, but also longer outings on Lake Marken: you won't have to waste a lot of sailing time to reach the water. In some cases, you won't even have to think about crossing a lock or bridge.
Here are three marinas on Lake Markermeer:
The harbour of Lelystad Haven, also known as Lelystad Haven, is located directly on the lake. The Marker Wadden islands can be reached from the harbour in just one hour! To discover the historic towns of Volendam and Hoorn from the marina, you'll need 17 and 25 nautical miles respectively. To the south-east of the Markermeer, in the immediate vicinity of the Houtrib dike, or Houtribdijk, Lelystad Haven is also an ideal port of departure to reach the IJsselmeer and expand your sailing territory.
In Almere Poort, Marina Muiderzand is also a great way to discover Lake Marken: on the IJmeer, a lake itself directly connected to the Markermeer, it offers boaters a location close to various interesting destinations on the Markermeer. These include:
- Volendam : 17 nautical miles
- The Marker Wadden archipelago : 20 nautical miles
- Hoorn : 25 nautical miles
Still in the town of Lelystad, but this time on the IJsselmeer, the harbour oh Deko Marina Lelystad is also an alternative: by passing through a lock of the Houtrib, every boater can reach Lake Marken easily and quickly.
