What's a beautiful marina, in the Netherlands or elsewhere?

Beauty is a subjective notion! So what criteria did we use to select the most beautiful marinas in the Netherlands featured in this article?

For us, cleanliness and upkeep are two essential elements. Indeed, a marina may be located in a magnificent natural area, but if its upkeep leaves something to be desired, it can quickly overshadow the beauty of the marina. The same goes for the water in the harbor, which, if not of the highest quality, can have a real impact on the boater's experience. Another determining factor for the Port Adhoc group was the view from the harbor: if you're spending the evening and night in your boat alongside the quay, or in accommodation offered by the marina, you'll prefer to be able to enjoy a beautiful view. So we also took into account the environment of the various marinas when making our choice.

La marina Muiderzand, a port in Almere with several viewpoints

The first beautiful marina in the Netherlands that we wanted to introduce to you is Muiderzand, located in Flevoland, near the IJmeer, Markermeer and IJsselmeer. What appealed to us most about this marina on the edge of the Almere dunes was its environment: all around the marina, boaters are surrounded by nature! From the berths, they have a view of the picturesque village of Muiderberg, as well as the various nearby islands.

In addition to the beauty of the surroundings, there are many comfortable facilities for a short or long boating holiday: Marina Muiderzand offers top-quality harbor services, restaurants, easy access to the large beach Almeerderstrand... and a wide range of water sports.

Finally, the Marina Muiderzand also offers boaters and other visitors the chance to spend the night in unusual accommodation, such as a floating chalet, a lodge or a safari tent.

Marina Naarden, a marina in the heart of nature

In North Holland, near the fortified town of Naarden and surrounded by the forest of the same name, the Naarden marina is another beautiful marina in the Netherlands. It welcomes boaters in a green setting, for stopovers or all year round, and offers particularly pleasant and perfectly equipped spaces. There's even a natural swimming pool adjacent to the marina!

Jachthaven Naarden is equipped with a restaurant, as well as several accommodation options for a comfortable stay. Last but not least, Jachthaven Naarden's location is ideal for discovering the Gooi lake, or Gooimeer, as well as the surrounding waters: sailors can, for example, navigate from the harbor to the IJmeer to reach and visit the capital, Amsterdam.

Lelystad Haven marina, a Dutch harbor overlooking the Houtribdijk river

On Lake Marken, or Markermeer, and in the immediate vicinity of Lake IJssel, or IJsselmeer, the Jachthaven Lelystad Haven marina is also well worth a visit. It's a modern, well-equipped marina with plenty of berths for boats of all sizes, set in unspoilt surroundings. From the marina itself, boaters enjoy a view of the Markermeer and the renowned Houtribdijk, the 30-kilometer-long dike built between the towns of Lelystad and Enkhuizen.

The marina offers boaters top-of-the-range services, as well as the opportunity to dine in a floating restaurant with a breathtaking view of the harbor.

The Lelystad Haven marina is the ideal starting point for visiting the fishing ports of the former Zuiderzee and discovering picturesque towns such as Volendam, Monnickendam, Hoorn, Enkhuizen and Stavoren. You can also stay overnight at the Lelystad Haven marina, thanks to a family-run hotel open to all visitors.

Bruinisse marina, a quiet, well-located Zeeland harbor

Located on Lake Grevelingen in Zeeland, Bruinisse Marina is the fourth beautiful Dutch marina we'd like to recommend. It's a pleasant, quiet marina on a human scale, yet with all the services you could wish for. The proximity of the Grevelingen lake creates a relaxing atmosphere, which users can enjoy from the brasserie with its view. The marina of Bruinisse is also the ideal place for water sports! For those who can't or don't want to stay on board, there is a range of accommodation available: a vacation home right on the harbour, a chalet, or even a floating house. Last but not least, Jachthaven Bruinisse 's location makes it easy to sail from the marina to Zierikzee, Renesse or the North Sea.
