Port Adhoc chosen to become the new manager of the Port Barcarès

The Commune of Le Barcarès, in association with the NGE and Vinci Construction France groups within the framework of a SEMOP (Société d'Économie Mixte à Opération Unique) intended to carry out a vast urban and port project, has entrusted Port Adhoc with the management of the Port-Barcarès marina.

It is a large-scale project that the town of Le Barcarès is undertaking in order to requalify and redevelop its port city, the legacy of a major construction programme in the 1960s: the Mission Racine. As part of the Odysséa project for the development of ecotourism and port cities, the ILA CATALA project should lead to the sustainable redevelopment of the port and give a new harmony to its district.

Port Barcarèsa strong historical heritage

Historically a fishing village, the seaside resort of Port-Barcarès was born in the 1960s as part of the Racine Mission. Today it has become a town in its own right, one of the main nautical and tourist centres of the region. Its marina is located between the sea and the marine lake. It coexists with the fishing port which recalls the history of the town and its Catalan identity.

The port of Port-Barcarès currently has about 1800 moorings spread over several basins and can accommodate boats up to 18 metres. The harbourmaster's office, the reception pontoon and a refuelling station are located on the main basin of Grau St Ange. The port has a technical area that can accommodate boats up to 25 tons and on which there is a careening area. A large number of nautical professionals are also based in the port (boat sales and maintenance, rental, cruising, jet-skiing, diving, water sports, etc.) and offer a unique tourist experience.

Ambition of Port Adhoc

In conjunction with the municipality, and in respect of the history of the port town of Port-Barcarès and its identity, Port Adhoc will first of all endeavour to :

  • Ensuring the continuity of port services

All the contracts of the port's customers will of course be maintained under their current terms. The services currently offered by the port will also be provided as normal.

  • Implement a maintenance programme for port equipment

The first maintenance work, particularly dredging, should begin in the coming months and will be carried out by the NGE and Vinci Construction France groups. They will improve the reception and safety of ships and yachtsmen.

  • Modernising port services and facilities

Port Adhoc wishes to engage in a process of development of the port and its environment. The objective will be to make the port of Barcarès a centre of unique experiences focused on water sports and connected to all the functions and players in the area.

In concrete terms, Port Adhoc will initially focus on digitalising customer relations and access to port facilities. The group also wishes to facilitate access to the sea for tomorrow's yachtsmen by developing new commercial offers adapted to this clientele (creation of a Yacht Club, tourist offers in partnership with the various local players, etc.). Port Adhoc also wishes to bring the port into a new era of infrastructure surveillance coupled with a reasoned management of fluids thanks to a geographical information system and dedicated equipment. After having seen the port and the beaches of Port-Barcarès awarded the "Blue Flag" label, new steps to obtain an additional label, "Clean Ports", will be initiated rapidly.

Finally, in parallel with these various works, Port Adhoc will support SEMOP in carrying out the first stages of its redevelopment project, ILA CATALA: the modification and consolidation of the dyke at the entrance to the port, the construction of an aquaduct allowing access to the Tourette Basin for all boats, with no limit on air draught, as well as an increase in the number of moorings in order to meet the demand associated with the construction of the urban project.
