Every year, wintering your boat is a very important operation for boaters. The wintering ashore in a shed for your boat

One of the most effective wintering solutions for protecting your boat is to put it ashore in a dry shed. This protects your yacht from the vagaries of the weather and the Dutch winter climate. These can be particularly cold, causing your on-board electronic equipment to freeze. If you decide to store your boat indoors, in a shed, you'll reduce the amount of maintenance required in the spring, when it's time to put your boat back in the water.

Two of the Port Adhoc group's Dutch marinas offer dry wintering in sheds to boaters: Deko Marina Lelystad and Jachthaven Naarden.

The outdoor boat wintering, afloat or ashore

There is also the option of leaving your boat outside, either in the water or ashore. While the first solution allows you to continue using your boat whenever you like, even when docked, the second will take your boat out of the water and limit its deterioration.

Most of the Group's Dutch marinas Port Adhoc offer an ashore wintering service, with outdoor boat storage. For instance, Marina Muiderzand, the Almere marina, can accommodate up to 550 boats in dry winter storage. If you prefer to leave your boat in the water during the wintering season, this is possible at all our Dutch marinas: the marinas of the Port Adhoc group can offer you monthly contracts for wintering your boat, or an annual contract for a long-term stay. For maximum protection, you can also dismast your yacht and use a dedicated storage area for the mast, or even opt for a safety tarpaulin.

Finally, if you want to leave your motorboat in the water and protect it from the elements at the same time, the Naarden marina is the ideal choice: it offers the possibility of storing your yacht afloat, under a covered shed.

Refit and annual maintenance of your boat

Whichever solution you choose for wintering your boat - ashore or afloat, indoors or outdoors - you'll have access to it at all Port Adhoc marinas. So why not take advantage of the low season to carry out any necessary maintenance work?

You can carry out your own maintenance operations, in compliance with harbor regulations, or schedule the intervention of one of our professional partners. They are present in all our marinas and specialize in all trades: marine mechanics, marine electricity and electronics, painting, saddlery, sailmaking... Your boat will be ready for its return to the water!

Putting your boat back in the water after winter storage

If you choose to put your boat ashore during the winter, you'll need to decide how you're going to handle your yacht before launching it back into the water. Your decision will depend on the size, weight and propulsion system of your boat.

The marinas of the Port Adhoc group have all the handling equipment you need, from trailers to traveliftand jib cranes. For larger boats, you'll need to turn to the Marina Muiderzand in Almere, whose travelift can handle boats weighing up to 50 tons.
