Chapter 1, question 4: the crew of my dreams

Solo or accompanied, under sail or motor, sailing can be practiced in many ways! Let's take a look at your fellow travelers.

To make up the crew of your dreams, who do you invite? Explorers and sailors, modern or contemporary, give free rein to your imagination: with which legend(s) would you like to go on an adventure?

The selection of Port Adhoc : Fernand, Thor and Florence

Today we have done the same exercise as you and we have also put together the crew of our dreams:

1 - Fernand DE MAGELLAN

nao-victoria-magellan

It is with the explorer who shaped his legend by achieving one of the greatest feats in the history of navigation that we would like to set sail. Ferdinand Magellan, the first explorer to prove between 1519 and 1522, that it is possible to sail around the world.

We propose you to discover today his imaginary interview:

2 - Thor HEYERDAHL

Kon Tiki crew

The second person we would like to embark with would be Thor Heyerdahl, the Norwegian who decided to sail from Peru to Polynesia in 1947 with only a balsa wood raft.
The purpose of this expedition was to prove to his contemporaries that the American Indians - and not the Westerners - were at the origin of the settlement of this group of Pacific islands. This theory was fueled by the expedition of Kon-Tiki Viracocha, the Indian chief who, according to the legends of the island of Fatu Hiva, left Callao on a raft, letting himself be carried by the east winds.

3 - Florence ARTHAUD

"The solo sailor juggles with chance and technique, knowledge and the unknown, the innate and the acquired"said Florence Arthaud. It is with the "Little Bride of the Atlantic", the first woman to have won the Route du Rhum in 1990, that we would like to embark. At only twenty years old, she crossed the Atlantic for the first time. In a rough and reputedly male environment, Florence Arthaud found her place and opened the way for women, proving that sailing does not belong to any gender.

And you, who would you take on an adventure with you? Tell us all about it by answering the fourth question.

As a reminder, the answers to your questions are intended to serve, together, to build the wonderful imaginary adventure of Atanahoué, a young sailor dreaming of going on an adventure after a long period of confinement.
